Rugby Southland are excited to announce the introduction of the STAG award for 2021. The purpose of this award is to encourage positive team culture and behaviour across Secondary School Rugby. The intention is to expand and grow the STAG award next year and beyond. 'STAG' is an acronym for Spectator and Team award for Great behaviour.
This will be contested in the following grades in 2021;
Each week the referee will grade each team on the following areas with a score out of 5 in each catergory. Points will only be scored in the round robin – U14 & U15 (Finishing August 7th) & U17 (Finishing July 10th)
A total score out of 20 will be given to each team each week. Please note the away team will not be scored for field set up - If a team plays an odd ratio of home-away games an average combined field set up score will be awarded.
The three winning teams, one from each grade, will receive tickets to the first SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags home game of 2021 as well as an invite to the captains run & BBQ lunch with the Stags.
Should the program show succesful improvements in our game, the STAG Award will be rolled out across further grades.
