The Highlanders' fly-half is set to bring his wealth of experience to the Stags and the union are eager to see how the increasing continuity within the squad impacts on field results.
Banks is excited to be back with the Stags and is looking forward to playing at Rugby Park in front of their loyal fans. He expressed his excitement, saying, "It’s been awesome to see more boys getting experience inside of Super Rugby teams, I’m looking forward to seeing this translate over to our 2023 season. I’m excited for the season ahead and seeing Rugby Park filled with the stags faithful."
The Director of Rugby at SBS Bank Southland Stags, Matt Saunders, is pleased about the signing of Banks. Saunders acknowledged that Banks has had a tough run with injuries, but he is hopeful that Banks will be injury-free and ready to lead the team to victory in the upcoming season. He stated, "Marty has had a tough run with injuries. Hoping he is injury free and firing by round one, ready to lead us around the park and kick us to a few victories."
