Rugby Southland Announces 2025 Rugby Academy Squad


Rugby Southland is thrilled to unveil the players selected for the 2025 Rugby Academy, highlighting the region’s finest up-and-coming rugby talent.

Year 1 Members:Mika Muliaina, Thomas Jennings, and Jayden Broome join as first-year members, having progressed from the Pathways Programme, a testament to the strength of Southland’s rugby development system. They are joined by Jackson Hughan, Sam Mustchin, and Lachlan Stevens to complete the exciting group of year-one players.

Year 2 Members:The year-two members are an impressive lineup who will be pushing for game time with the Southland Stags in 2025. This group includes Tayne Harvey, who made his Stags debut in 2024, alongside Gregor Rutledge, Josh Augustine, Shaun Kempton, Justin Shaw, Luca Fuller, Louis Lepionka, JJ Fisher, and Henry Scott.

Pathways Manager Scott Eade shared his excitement for the 2025 Academy squad:“This is a fantastic group of players who have worked hard to earn their spots in the Academy. It’s great to see such strong progression through our development pathways, and I’m confident this group will make a real impact, with many eyeing opportunities to represent the Southland Stags in 2025.”
