Few regions in the history of the NPC have a history, and rivalry as rich as Southland and Otagos.

They have the 'Golden O', we have the 'Golden S', but come this Saturday their can only be one Ranfurly Shield holder.

Southland and Otago will meet for the 243rd time in their 16th battle for the Ranfurly Shield. 

To make it more special, it will be the first time the two teams have played for the shield since a 16,000 sell out crowd at Rugby Park in 2010. 

Southland are coming off the back of a 27-17 loss to Northland five days ago, with Otago recovering from an uncharacteristic 50-7 thumping from Bay Of Plenty in Tauranga on Sunday.

Otago V Southland kick off is 4.35pm at Forsyth Barr Stadium Dunedin Saturday August 17th.
