Highlander and former Otago NPC player Sione Misiloi has signed with the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags for the 2021 season.
The 26 year old Flanker who can also play lock is a known strong ball carrier with a physical style of play. He came up through the North Otago rugby system and made his provincial debut in 2016 when the side won the Lachore Cup. He made his NPC debut in 2018 playing over 20 games to date, and has spent the last two seasons with the Highlanders.
Head Coach Dale MacLeod is pleased to have a signing of his capability boosting an already strong loose forward pack.
“Sione will bring a physical presence to our forward pack. A fit and motivated Sione Misiloi will add to what is already a very good loose forward mix. He brings Super experience and will be great mentor for Arese Poliko our young no 8, both are very similar in how they play the game. They will push and feed off each other. Building depth and creating competition is a key part of what we are wanting to create in 2021. I am excited to see what Sione will bring in the Stags jersey.”
Misiloi be looking to have his first run in the Southland Jersey when the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags play Otago in Waikouaiti on July 23rd at 2.05pm.
